flying high, no audition but I got asked?

April 4th, 2008 at 07:55 am

I am taking a voice class here in Sacramento that I love but struggle with. Tonight was our second solo performance of the semester. I am struggling with stage fright a bit and tonight I could not remember the words to the third verse. It frustrates me because I sang for years and now, phbt I can remember songs I have known for 15years?

The instructor still invited me to perform at the special pops concert at the college next friday. I said yes and she is a bit nervous I will forget the words again. So am I but I came home and sang it about 15 times and got all the words. I love this song!

I think part of my problem was the accompanist never worked with me ahead of time and theusic sounded very different than what I am used to. The new accompanist plays it like I know it and it flows better. I can't wait to get back on stage and sing again. I loved it when I was younger and miss it so much.

Wow, I didn't realize you sing! It'd be nice if you can make a recording of some kind for us.

Anyway, I have terrible stage fright too. Don't like it one bit.

What was the song, by the way?

I think even being able to try and get on stage to perform is great! Much more than I would probably do!

Good luck with your performance, I'm sure you'll do great!

If some one gave me the choice of 100 million dollars or a singing voice that other would ask to hear, I would hands down take the voice. Music and singing our my defination of heaven. I looooooove to sing and do it all the time but I sing differently Smile......hence I often do it when I am alone. lols

Wow, that's something, because uh, I'd have to go with the 100 million buckaroos. Big Grin

BA- Our requirement for the class was to sing a song from a musical or movie. Most picked Disney songs or really old musicals with good songs but I really love the song "On My Own" from Les Miserables so that is the one I picked. If I ever got a role to play in a musical it would be Eponine. If I could figure out how to record it I would but I am not sure of they are going to. If they do then I'll try and figure out a way to post it. I do have a recording of me singing a John Denver Song the Eagle and the Hawk but I think I am 5 years old. Not exactly the sound I am going for now.

Silly-I have always love music and singing. I wish I could play a piano but I have to admit singing is so much easier to do and to transport your instrument! There were times when I was so serious about it that days before a concert I would not talk or sing unless I was rehearsing.

hmmm 100 million or a singing voice? that would be tough.

Oh, that song is great! Such a tear-jerker. Even though I'm not into musicals anymore, I listened to Les Miz so much in high school and college that every note is ingrained in my head. Sometimes I'll be walking around and some snippet will come into my head. This week "Castle on a Cloud" kept coming to me.
